Our History

Here we will tell the story of the beginnings of our church and how we became what we are today.

o
Word of Grace Fellowship was incorporated in 1988 and came out of a Bible Study that was at Evangelistic Centre in Rahway ( word of faith church) under the direction of Rev. Dr. Paul F. MCCarthy. In 1985 we started meeting at a friends house and in spring 1988 after Dr. McCarthy had died we then left Evangelistic Centre to start our own church. Rev. John was ordained as the Pastor & Rev. Don Carson was ordained as the Asst. Pastor in Oct 1988. We started with a group of about 20 people and met at the YMCA in Summit and we also had a Bible Study at the YWCA in Elizabeth. In 1989, we started a cable TV show entitled Nothing but Grace and were on several channels in Middlesex and Union Counties. The Rev. John Hogan our founding pastor, taught the gospel of grace and proclaimed the righteousness of God. Our focus has always been the Gospel of Grace & God's righteousness and always will be. Rev. John's vision was that there would be a church where the grace of God would be clearly taught and the righteousness of God would be clearly preached, and we are still following that vision.
In August 1999, we went on the Internet with home pages for the Pastor and Asst. Pastor, which were listed on AOL Hometown. We have now started a new webpage that is listed at www.WordofGraceFellowship.com
In September 2006 The Rev. John Hogan died and in October 2006 Rev. Don Carson, the Asst. Pastor, was ordained as the new Pastor. Rev Dr Natalie Marino  became the new Asst. Pastor in March of 2007.
Many of the original members who still keep in contact with the church have moved away. We are seeking people to come join us at Word of Grace so that we can fellowship with others and grow together in the Gospel. If what you see here interests you then please feel free to write us so that we can have a chance to minister to you His amazing Grace!
